HTML is one of the basic foundations of the web. But as the best web design practices and techniques change over time. The code we use also changes. With the evolution of HTML, some of these are causing more problems for us? Is it better to start from the beginning so that we can ensure that we all work in the same language? Until we want to edit the bits we do not want or need?
Problems with old HTML
Let's take a look at what happens when we modify HTML rules over time and how it affects the web:
Discarding obsolete HTML is then dangerous
Outdated code will eventually become a problem, whether some features are obsolete and in need of use, or whether browsers have stopped supporting certain tags altogether.
A long list of obsolete HTML can be found on the HTMipedia website:
For many of these, HTML tags and attributes have been replaced with more efficient CSS styling. There are also examples of HTML depreciation because some features are obsolete (such as frames).
However, there are still websites that contain outdated HTML tags.
In some cases, silent HTML is placed on the other side of the web. If there is a lot of wrong code, these extra characters and instructions can slow down your server processing time and make pages appear slower than usual.
In other cases, HTML breaks the properties of the bottom part of a website. For example, consider this Mozilla label warning:
Using outdated code can create conflicting and poor experiences on the front end. And when all the browsers are finally logged in and decide to no longer support the HTML tag, all the visitors will get a bad UI.
So, while it is interesting that HTML5 has obsolete old HTML that is no longer useful or necessary, it does not prevent everyone from using it or leaving it behind on older websites.
